me and judy
For this year’s Halloween, I got dressed up as a zombie butcher and Judy went as the zombie mouse that I found and killed in my kitchen. Brad and Nicole’s party, dubbed the Butcher Shop, was an insane blast as usual. They split the party up into groups at the beginning and sent us off on a video scavenger hunt around Fairfax. I think one of the highlights of the night was when we had to “dance on a grave”! Try finding a graveyard at 10pm and figuring out how to get sufficient lighting to get the dancing on video! I’ll try and upload some of the video footage to show off some of the funnier scavenger hunt moments (eg. Singing “Monster Mash” inside a Wendy’s with help from the employees, walking around like zombies in a grocery store, recreating a scene from a horror movie, etc).

Tonight, we attended a small potluck get together with some of Judy’s friends. We brought a really awesome chili that was reminiscent of Cincinatti-style chili but with a hint of chocolate along with some cornbread. There was some crazy strong sangria there along with a tub of tiramisu, chicken, and spiced apple cider (oh god I love apple cider). All in all, it was a great Halloween!

So Judy made this awesome pumpkin curry tonight and served it in a small pumpkin that we had gutted. I love having an awesome chef for a girlfriend! The curry tasted just as good as it was presented too!

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is bad for america. this organization has pushed their fascist agenda for years into the mainstream and are ruining more families than they claim to save. Do not trust them. Do not give them money. Do not support them. Call your senator. Get them to denounce MADD as a fascist organization attempting to undermine democracy in this country. They don’t care about saving lives. They just care about pushing their beliefs onto the public. Do not let this group of ignorant and uneducated sheep tell you how to live your lives. We can find another group to support in efforts to combat drunk driving. MADD is anti-alcohol. That’s all there is to it. Either you live your life the way you want, or you live life the way MADD wants you to. I really want to start an anti-MADD petition to send to my congressman or senator to ban the organization from doing any more harm to this country.

I’m sure everyone has given some thought to the current state of fuel consumption especially now that it’s hit everyone at home in their wallets every time you get gas at the pump. You can’t go one day of watching the news without seeing something about the cost of oil barrels rising and setting new records. The big question is: What can you do?
During the 70s, there was another energy crisis that prompted the Nixon administration to mandate a 55 mph national speed limit. The idea was to curb fuel spending on a national level and although it makes sense, was hugely unpopular. How would you feel about something like this now? Considering my lengthy history involving speeding tickets, I already know my lead foot would be recalcitrant in this matter. But it is something small that everyone can do that would actually make a difference in national consumption. Isn’t it worth trying?
this xkcd cartoon perfectly describes the relationship between me and my soul mate.

This weekend started off with Art-o-matic in DC to go see Bob spin a late night set. I got there a bit early and explored around a bit before the show started. I’ll go on the record as saying that I think art-o-matic has to be a multi-day experience. There’s just too much art to absorb in a one-day span. Eight floors of craziness. Later on in the night, we went out to the cat.

and somehow in the night, I got to see this badass pez collection in someone’s crib.

good times all around.
