viva la revolucion

just got back from partying at the french embassy of all places. sarah took me out there to meet some of her german cohorts and it was an amazing day for an outdoor dance party :) “SAVAN” – “what’s up” in french slang. “JUIZ” – “bye” in german. gotta love being in a giant melting pot of cultures and people.

on the path

So I’m not really up for writing long blog posts lately, but I feel like I will soon. Not much going on right now. Getting ready for school, otakon, and the rest of my life :) hopefully i’ll write more soon.

Greener Pastures

I’ve just been accepted into grad school at mason where I’ll be getting my master’s in CompSci.  If you know me, you know that I’ve been sitting on my ass for a long time when it comes to this, so today is pretty awesome.  I’ll be signing up for classes soon and I can’t wait to go back to school =)  I guess this means I’ll be getting my netbook sooner than expected too!

quote of the day

best quote of the day from steve:

dude, ball point pens were not made with lefties in mind.

Not quite dead yet

I haven’t really been in a blogging mood as of late which explains the recent drought of posts.  I’ve been focusing on getting in my application to gradschool and rediscovering my personal life.  I’ll try and write more starting this week, but motivation is hard to come by.

happy new years 2009!

It’s a little late, but Happy New Years 2009 everyone!  This past year seemed to go by ultra fast towards the end, but I guess that’s just how it feels every year now that I’m getting older.  I will update soon, but right now the bed is beckoning!

I just want to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday.  You guys rock and made today feel very awesome for me.

My first hockey game

hockey

hockey

Tonight I went to my first hockey game with a friend’s dad and had a great time!  The action was intense and the game was easy to pick up for a hockey noob like me.  It was the Washington Capitals vs the New York Islanders.  The Caps have lost the last four games to the Islanders.

The Caps started off strong and scored twice in the first period, but the Islanders came back and tied it up during the 2nd.  In the end, the Caps played a better game and won decisively 5-2.  My friend’s dad had front row seats so we were right up next to everything which made the experience that much more fantastic.

After the Caps scored the first time, I got to take part in the glorious act of banging on the glass like a madman along with everyone else in the front row.  The fans’ enthusiasm amazed me as the game progressed.  You could feel the anticipation of the audience every time the Caps had the puck near the Islanders’ goal.  And every time a penalty was called on a Cap, the crowd seemed like they were going to jump onto the ice and beat up the offending referee.  All in all, I had an awesome time and think that I’ll probably be going to more hockey games in the future.  I will most likely not be sitting in the front row in the future, but hopefully it is still just as exciting hehe.

Movin on up

So after living with roommates for over 10 years, I’ve finally got a place of my own in Arlington.  It’s a newly renovated efficiency in a medium-rise apartment complex down the street from where I used to live.  I spent most of the past week moving stuff from the old place to the new.  Living by myself is definitely worth the added cost.  All I need is for the internet to be hooked up on Wednesday.  In a way, the old tradition of baking a cake and going over to a new neighbors house has been replaced with the graciousness of my philanthropic neighbors who have kindly let me connect to “linksys” or “dlink”.  I love you neighbor!  The building itself is rather quiet (so far).  I wonder if my watching Dark Knight with the volume on full blast Sunday morning was a rude awakening for anyone?  hehe.
